U Obecniho Dvora is our first apartment accommodation in the oldest section of Prague’s Stare Mesto. The apartment is located in a 20th century building, down a sunken street next to the old civic garden. The facades of all the buildings in the neighborhood give the neighborhood an almost magical quality, especially at night when the gas lamps are lit.

Conveniently, It’s also only a three-minute stroll to to Prague´s Old Town Square in the heart of Stare Mesto. It’s also only a five-minute walk to the lovely art-deco Municipal House (in Czech called Obecni Dum, home to the Prague Philharmonic). The neighborhood is one of the most trendy in Prague, with many of the city´s finest restaurants all located within a short five-minute walk. Should you choose to stay here you won´t be disappointed with either the apartment or all the goings on in the neighborhood.

You enter the apartment building on the ground floor and walk to the back to take the elevator up to the fourth floor. The elevator is small and kind of rustic, but very efficient and fast. Then you walk down a flight of stairs to get into the apartment.

The apartment has just been thoroughly renovated and is in beautiful condition. After you hang your coat on the rack in the entrance hall, you walk past the kitchen unit to the living room. In the living room, which also is a dining room, you’ll find a huge and comfortable couch (conveniently it doubles as another bed should more than one couple wish to stay in the apartment), a comfy chair, a couple of lamps, a coffee table, a footstool and, of course, a table and four chairs for eating.

The best thing about the living room, though, is the wonderful huge window which looks out over the civic market and onto some amazing red roofs. And the green of Letna Hill across the river fills up the nearby view so it doesn’t even look like you are in the heart of Prague.

Next to the living room is the master bedroom. A double bed awaits your tired body after a long day of sightseeing. There is a big cabinet so you can hang your clothes and put your other stuff in the drawers below. And of course if you fancy reading in bed, there are bedside lamps on the night tables so you can read the night away while your partner snoozes.

The bathroom has been finished to perfection. A full length tub exists if you want to soak away the dirt from a day of tourning. But if it’s a quick shower you desire, that’s also easy as there’s a shower hose and head ready to go, American style!

The kitchen is fully modern and ready to go. There’s a dishwasher, a regular stove and ceramic hob, a huge refrigerator and all the other amenities you need to whip up a plate of pasta or a simple breakfast. You’ll find plenty of glasses, plates, silverware and anything else you need to enjoy a meal in.

As in all of our apartments, linens, towels, heating and electricity are included in your rental payment.

The neighborhood around the apartment is great, one of the most happening in Prague. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars and more are being added all the time. It´s simple to get out and grab a really good bite to eat and enjoy some of Prague´s excellent concerts and nightlife.

If you need to get anywhere quickly, there are two metros, one down towards Obecni Dum (Namesti Republiky stop, yellow Line B) and the other near Old Town Square (Staromestska stop, green Line A). But really, since the apartment is so centrally located, walking everywhere in town is probably your quickest way around.
