The center of Prague is small, vibrant and exciting. It encompasses All of Prague 1, parts of Prague 2, Prague 5 and Prague 3. Stretching from Wenceslas Square through Stare Mesto and Mala Strana, the best way to see the city center is on foot. The entire area is packed with unbelievable buildings, built from the 13th century onwards, shops, restaurants, theaters, bars, squares and people. During your visit to Prague there is no doubt you’ll spend most of your time wandering the heart of Prague’s city center.

The commercial heart of Prague has to be Wenceslas Square. Named after the patron saint of Bohemia, Saint Wenceslas (also from the famous song, Good King Wenceslas) the square is dominated by shops that line either side of the square and a statue of Good King Wenceslas atop his horse on the top of the square. If you want to buy something during your trip to Prague, if you can’t find it on Wenceslas Square, you won’t be able to find it at all. We are fortunate to have two beautiful apartments very near to Wenceslas Square, our Spanelska Apartment and our Olivova Apartment.

Below the square are winding roads which all eventually lead to Old Town Square. This is the half-way point between Wenceslas Square and the Charles Bridge, it’s bursting with tourists during the holiday season and is full of fairs during the Christmas and Easter holidays. During the World Ice Hockey Championships or any other major sporting event in which the Czechs are good at, large TV screens are set up so everyone can participate in watching the national team excel. You can easily wander into the Old Town square from our Benediktska Apartment.

From Old Town Square you can head over the Charles Bridge into Mala Strana and on to the Prague Castle or you can go and wander in the Jewish Quarter or you can head to a nearby theater for an opera or concert. And if, after you have wandered, observed, eaten and walked some more, you can always catch a convenient tram or metro back to your Apartment in Prague to relax before heading out for round 2 in Prague’s center.
